The City of San Antonio’s Official New Year’s Eve Celebration
Monday, December 31st, 2018 / 6pm-12:15am
Hemisfair | La Villita | Maverick Plaza

It’s time to CELEBRATE San Antonio!  We invite you to join us at The City of San Antonio’s Official New Years Eve Downtown Celebration, CELEBRATE SA! The largest free New Year’s Eve festival in the state of Texas, CELEBRATE SA draws over 50,000 excited revelers each year. This live music event and fireworks show takes place at Hemisfair and inside La Villita / Maverick Plaza in downtown San Antonio. 

CELEBRATE SA will take place on December 31st, New Years Eve, at 6:00pm, and will be open approximately until 12:15am (when the Fireworks end). CELEBRATE SA is 100% FREE to the public!

So, what else can you expect to see at CELEBRATE SA? For starters, Tricentennial (300 San Antonio) will be debuting a few videos that will feature highlights of San Antonio’s 300th year. The ‘Celebrate Family’ Zone, presented by H-E-B will be located on Villita St. and feature games and activities for all ages from 6pm-9pm. The Arneson River Theater will be hosted by Spurs Sports & Entertainment, and will offer more free, family-friendly programming from 6pm-9pm. Also, as part of the festivities, Yanaguana Garden in Hemisfair will remain open for the public to enjoy all night!


Attendees can also appease their appetites with festival-fare, street treats, and food trucks throughout the footprint, as well as fresh, cold beer, and even a few specialty cocktails inside Maverick Plaza courtesy of Deep Eddy!* The night will be capped with a communal countdown at midnight, leading into a spectacular Fireworks show at The Tower of Americas in Hemisfair. 

*Please note – The cocktail offerings in Maverick Plaza will restrict this area to 21+up only.

Q: Can I bring my own food/drink?

A: No. 

Q: Can I bring a backpack?

A: The short answer is yes. But please note, all bags, including purses, are subject to search within the festival grounds! We encourage attendees to use clear backpacks as to avoid any unnecessary stops and/or searches.

Q: Are the carnival rides and games free?

A: No, the carnival will sell tickets that can be redeemed at each individual game and/or ride.

Q: Can I take my kids into Maverick Plaza even though they’re not drinking?

A: No, this year, Maverick Plaza will be restricted to 21+ up only. However, families with children are still encouraged to attend to enjoy all the family-friendly activities and entertainment along Alamo St. and H-E-B’s ‘Celebrate Family’ Zone located on Villita St. The Arneson Theater, and Yanaguana Garden in Hemisfair.

Q: Is the event free?

A: Yes, this event is 100% free to the public! There is no entry-fee whatsoever! However, we encourage attendees to bring their cash or card so they can enjoy all the wonderful food and beverage options available throughout the festival!

Q: Can I take a scooter to the event?

A: Yes, however, scooters will not be permitted within the festival footprint for public safety issues. All scooters will need to be parked near the barricades at Market St. and Cesar Chavez St, and or around the perimeter of the festival.
